Ashbourne is deep within 1066 country and lies "in the shadow" of Tent Hill where King Harold pitched camp before the Battle of Hastings.

By Car:

From the M25 (anti-clockwise) take Exit 5 where the M25 splits taking the right side for M20 and A21 and look out for the turning for the A21 Hastings (the sign is on the road flyover and you need to get into the left lane sharpish!). The A21 will take you past Tonbridge, by passing Lamberhurst, then Flimwell, Hurst Green and Robertsbridge. Just after John's Cross take the right hand turn at the roundabout onto the A2100 to Battle.

After about 3 miles you come to a roundabout at Battle. Turn right (A271). Follow this for 1.5 miles and you will pass the Squirrel pub on your left. Continue for a further 2.5 miles and after passing the Ashburnham entrance on your right take the next right turn into a small road (signposted to Ashburnham Village and Ponts Green - there is also a cream coloured sign to the Ash Tree Inn).

Continue for 1 mile and then take a right turn at the sign to Penhurst. Down the hill and over the small brick bridge and when you start to go up the hill you will see Ashbourne on the right. Inside the entrance, follow the sign to the car park. Around 1 hr 15 mins from Exit 5 of M25.

We suggest you don't use sat nav as most systems tend to pack up about half a mile from Ashbourne

By Train:

Train services from London run regularly from Charing Cross and London Bridge, taking about an hour and a bit to Battle station. There is a taxi rank although not always many vehicles. With prior notification we can arrange pre-booked transport from the station to Ashbourne and back to the station for you.
